uploading from my mini disc

Hi,

Hopefully someone out there can help me....

About 1yr-18mths ago I found a site that was selling this gadget ( for the life of me I cant remember the name ) that would allow me to upload music from my portable mini disc player on to my comp in effect making an mp3 of the music with a view to burning it onto cd. As the saying goes ' he/she who hesitates'....I hesitated and didn't buy. Anyway the gadget is no longer made or if it is still in production the name has changed. Can anyone out there help me try to find ( the ) a gadget that will do that i.e plug into my mini disc player an convert the music into mp3's so that I can put it on my mp3 player.......

What I use I a 3.5mm jack lead that I plug into my PC microphone socket at
one end and the other into the MDs headphone socket aswell ,Both ends of
the lead are male, and then I press play on my MD and record on my PC.

I use http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to record the sound with,
I can also save/export as mp3 using this software as long as I have
    downloaded the lame.dll file.

I have an ADS Tech Instant Music box which can convert tapes, LP, minidiscs etc into MP3s.

It's just a little white box which has phono in and out, as well as optical audio in and out... which all goes to a USB port. It comes with an add-on for Nero which can let you remove noise, change the gain etc.

QVC used to sell them, but it appears that they only do the video version now.

Had a quick Google, and they're listed at Amazon (though only through a seller), and Dabs have them, but only to order.
  • Many thanx for getting back to me. I have decided to buy the ADS Tech thingy...seems idiot proof !!!
