Hello moneysavers,
I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for where to visit in the lake district, both in terms of things to see and do and hotels to stay in, suitable for a recent graduate on a very strict budget! Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,
If your on a strict budget, the best way to enjoy the lake district would be to camp.
try www.ukcampsite.co.uk for recommendations depending on where you want to stay.
I can recommend Keswick and the surrounding area as a great place to stay.
Things to do - depending upon whether you have your own transport or not:
Hill walking
Canoeing
Horse Riding
Quad/ATV activities
Fishing
Cumberland Pencil Museum
Castlerigg stone circle
Hard knott roman fort
Others should be able to add to this.

Printed this out as going to Lake district tomorrow for 5 days and will try that tour (hope weather improves  )
Also came across this link whilst searching MSE
www.monsterfamilyfun.co.uk/telegraph (page 9 ) including BOGOF on South Lakes Wild Animal Park valid until May 2009 (note most of the other offers from that link are out of date now but was just looking for lake district ones).0
