Going Abroad With Nationwide Credit Card-?

I've Just Been Abroad With My Nationwide Credit Card (cheap To Use They Say As No Fee's / Commission) And The Damm Thing Would Work With Any Chip & Pin Machines In The Area Of Greece We Were In. I Phoned Nationwide From Greece Who Said It Should Be Ok But It Wasn't And Luckily I Had Some English Cash Or I Could Have Been In Trouble. Beware. Take Another Just In Case !

Same just happened to me in Turkey with my NW debit card. Couldnt withdraw cash at any ATM . I took 2 other cards just in case, thankfully.

thankfully i have never had a problem with using my nw card, and i have taken it to the usa, australia, bali, italy and spain, however i ahve had friends that had the same as what you are describing in turkey, greece etc? so maybe it depends where in the world you go

Surprised at that - I've been to many Greek islands, main problem has been finding one of them pesky ATMs. Only had a problem once (just one shop on Lesbos), but 3 other cards didn't work there either.

I have just come back from France today, been there for a long weekend, my wife and I phoned Nationwide and told them we would be in France and 5 times my card was declined, my wife's was declined twice.

I know it costs more but lucky we had other cards with no problem.....

I called them before our holiday and the lady said with NW you dont need to let them know you're going abroad, so she didnt take my details. I need to call them about this.

No problems in Mallorca this summer. I did call and let them know about travel arrangements, which they noted. I was worried as it was the first time I'd used it, but worked OK.
