thanks, im trying not to get worked up. I think im going to ring the council explain the situation and see what they can do, I wont say anything about bankruptcy though.

Hi! I don't feel so alone now reading this post. I'm exactly the same about my parents, and to be honest I'm only going to tell them what I really have to. And with a bit of luck they won't need to find out about the horrible ugly embarrassing stuff.
