Home insurance that covers oil theft?

Hi
Apologies if this has already been asked and answered (haven't been able to find it with search)
But with it costing about £1000 to fill an oil tank nowadays, does anyone know which policies do or don't cover the theft of oil from a tank. I've just noticed my Barclays renewal covers "loss of heating fuel/metered water" but I believe this refers to loss from leaks. I've been looking at esure but they don't mention it.
Also if you had your tank emptied by thieves surely it would be difficult to prove how much was in it?
Any thoughts?

Home policies cover theft- and unless the oil is specifically excluded from the definition of contents then you'd be able to claim for it. The RBS and HBOS policies I've seen certainly dont exclude it. Its quite an unusal claim though.0

Can't help with the cover but keep your receipts when refilling so to help quantifying a claim should a loss occur.Reassuringly expensive0

Hi CB101
I would say VERY important to get the Barclays policy checked to find out where you stand.
I worked for the Halifax for four years, till 2003, when I escaped. Not associated with them in any way at all except as a mortgage and B&C customer, before anyone thinks I'm advertising them.
Then and now, there are not many home & contents insurance policies as comprehensive as theirs, so I've taken their insurance for the last 7 years.
Obviously it's not going to suit everyone, but the standard policy is pretty good and the add on's are excellent value for money in my opinion. I'm lucky to not live in a storm/flood-liable area, but policy covers us for that too, as standard!
There are a lot of homes still in the UK where people have non-standard heating systems, with Halifax that is certainly covered specifically under their contents insurance
http://www.halifax.co.uk/insurance/pdfdocuments/HalifaxHomeInsuranceMORPolicyWording_1_337329-2.pdf?tag=INS3, but I recommend you check it out for yourself, ask them the question - non 0845 number is 01422 439098. 0800 169 9361 is the freephone number, new telephone customers are getting £50 for switching Buildings and Contents (which you get a discount for taking the both incidently) and £50 for subsequent renewals if you quote TY50

(thank-you http://www.saynoto0870.com what a brilliant site!)
I checked on HX website and new customers are getting a 35% discount online, maybe use one of those switching sites and get cashback as well if you can!
Word on HX renewals, RING THEM EVEN IF THE RENEWAL IS GOOD because their current !!!!!! computer system doesn't auto-apply discounts you may be entitled to, such as for customer loyalty(apparently they are upgrading it soon, but I suspect its probably still going to be worth ringing them, just as with every other company). Just knocked about £6.50 a month off my renewal quote doing this! Might just go back and B£*%& nicely, just to see what they do to impress me more!
If you keep your reciepts alongside your policy, I don't think that you will have much argument. I have no idea if there is a means of measuring usage on your sort of system?
Just a point to note, scrap metal is highly desirable to some sorts as well, I have no idea as to what sort of storage you have, but I do hope its secure. I'm aware of unpleasants helping themselves to cast iron gas mains connections and the entire immersion tank from a house!!!
