Help !! Plz

hi again folks wonder if anyone can help me with another problem with wtc & ctc whats happened is my eldest girl is 17 in a week she has started colleage which is all good ... last week i got a payment in my bank of 238 pounds from wtc which was unexpected as i had got my weekly money off them few days before and this was more than i get .so i rang them up and asked why this money had gone in ? they said something about taking my eldest girl off and he had now added her back on ? ( im confused as well) i told him she was starting colleage anyway he replied ok and all my new entiltments would be calculated on the 1st of sept so he couldnt tell me wot i was going to be getting ! i asked him do i have to pay the money back that theyve put in he said no they just put it in when a change happens and its wot im entilted to for rest of year or something along them lines ? 2 days later i recieved a amended tax credits award notice and if yr like me they are baffling and hard to understand , so i rang them again asking wot was going on im confused he had a look and said they had recalulated my money and its just about same he says, so i asked how much will i be getting a week ?from now on i would only be getting 110 pound a week off them he replied .. i was getting 166 off them so hows that the same so he went on about the money they had put in bank after that fear hit me and i switched off and said ok thanks and hung up .. i only work 18hrs a week at min wage and out of my money i have to pay 51 pound towards my rent and 78 pound a month council tax also im cutting my hours down to 16 so will be getting less ( i did tell them i was cutting hours down) im so stressed keep crying all time as i dont no how im going to manage all the bills etc according to entitled.com i should be getting 159 pound a week im so confused and scared just dont no wot to do its costing me money to ring them all time so that bumps up my phone bill and i still cant get how they work it all out ? come some one help plz

All I can suggest is to call them agin when you are calm and ask them to explain. Tell them you were gtting the £160 odd and you dont understand why its been cut.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

    Hi

I have three children, 18 16 and 9. I had a bit of an argument with the CTC earlier this week. I also got a bigger sum of CTC than I normally receive last week. But next week I'm only getting CTC for 2 children my 18 yr old and 9 nine year old. When you have a child who is continuing with education they change your amounts and then recalculate on the 1st Sept. So basically for one week only you receive lower than normal CTC. I had this happen when my 18yr old left school and started college.

Try giving them another ring tuesday and see if they've re adjusted your award.

This happened to me earlier in the year with a change of circumstances, basically (I think) they have paid you the £238 already so they have now taken that off the amount for the year, making your regular payment smaller. Have you already spent it? I didn't spend mine so that I can supplement the smaller monthly payment I now get.
As your daughter is staying on for FE you will continue to get ctc and cb for her,it sounds as though initially they may have taken her off the claim thinking she was going to Uni or work and have had to add her back on again. I also complained to ctc as I am now left with a smaller monthly payment due to their mistake in giving the extra payment, but luckily I saved it so that I don't notice it-I so nearly spent it though!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

This is not necessarily correct. It depends on what your daughter is studying at college. If she is doing any course from an HNC upwards you will no longer be entitled to your tax credits or child benefit for her. But I believe if it's a lower course, National Certificate and certain NVQ's dependent again on the level you will be able to keep your tax credits and child benefit.

Mine have stopped as my oldest turned 18 in July and he is off to University in a couple of weeks and thus as it's Higher Education I no longer qualify for either of the above for him.
