Over paint oil gloss with a water based gloss?

My satinwood has gone a creamy colour after just a couple of months so can i paint over it with a water based one? i spent ages preping and really dont want to start again!!

I agree, you need to give it a key, luckily its satinwood, so you havent got to rub down gloss.
Satinwood, specially the oilbase (not sure about waterbased) is normally self undercoating, so you dont need to UC, unless its years old and very yellow.
The plus side about the waterbase is that it doesnt yellow, but the neg side is that the finish is not as good as the oilbase, or as hardwearing.
You might have to give a couple of coats just to get a better finish with the waterbase.0
