I'm just updating my routing table before switching over to Planet Talk on Tuesday. I have found the free directory enquiries and want to set the routing table to dial this free DQ if anyone dials 192 or 118 whatever.

Can anyone point me in the right correction for the routing codes? I think it's 192 - 192 Translation and 118 - Translate Directory.

I've got mine set as follows:

In the "Carrier" box within Cwclient find "08000192190 - Free Dir Enq"

Then in the Routing box find the following drop down

"118*1*9 - 118 DQ Trans" set it with attribute "T"

    ...that's it!

What all that means is if you then dial 118something..something ...something..
then behind the scenes it will be dialling the freephone number. Have just reread your post...I don't think that set up covers 192 - sorry!

Thanks, I'll change my routing table to that. What does 118 - Translate Directory do then?

Simply put if anyone dials any 118 number the Orchid will recognise it and actually dial the 08000192190 - Free Dir Enq number that you chose as the carrier, i.e. it translates the human dialled number to the machine dialled number you specified.

    Same for Translate 192.

I mentioned setting it up in this post.

Essentially, it means anyone dialling the old 192 or any DQ beginning 118 then it will ring the free DQ service on 0800....

Of course, you can still use the override to should you want to use a DQ service beginning 118.

So what I had suggested would be fine then? Thanks.

Why the need for the other one fbrj mentioned if they both seem to do the same thing?

I knew I'd seen it somewhere but couldn't find it again - thanks.

Because it needs two separate line entries in your routing table.

One will translate if somebody dials 118 ***.

The other will translate if somebody dials 192.

The router is not clever enough to have a single line entry to translate both (and/or logic)

    Sorry, didn't make myself clear.

I meant why have 118*1*9 - 118 DQ Trans and 118 - Translate Directory as both seem to have the same function.
