Decent Scart lead?

I have been reading about oxygen free scart leads on the the web & I was wondering if anybody has any experience with these type of leads. The prices vary from £20 up to £60, is there a big enough difference in picture quality to justify buying these leads or just keep on using the leads supplied with equipment. I am reluctant to spend this sort of money if there is no great gain in quality. Also there are various makes, so any help on this matter would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have used many different scarts and depending on what you want, I would look at Thor, they get good reviews for quality and pricing....

Here is an example....not searched if it is the best price on web, just the 1st link I found for Thor @ £18, may find cheaper...maybe search kelkoo.co.uk

Unless you are wanting aboslute perfection I would doubt you would notice the difference between this one and one for £60, like I said, I have tried many expensive ones, and for me it reaches a point where I can tell no difference.

Have you got a top of the range tv??

Any increase in quality of the cable could be written off by a cheap connector in the back of your TV.

Some hifi shops let you audition cables before buying. Then you can see what you think of the difference and if it's worth it.

Have a ring around shops near you, and see if they do this.

  • I used to have a S-video connection from my DVD to TV and the picture was excellent, when I changed DVD player I needed a new Scart to Scart connection so bought a top spec Silver Ixos cable for £40 and I couldn't see any difference in picture even when I put my eye right up to the screen.

I would say if you have 36 inch or less then you won't notice any difference in picture quality.

At the bargain price of £17.98 I would recommend the Philex Thor, Play.com also do the flat cable version for £19.99.

If you live near a Richer Sounds branch then you can print off the internet price and they will match it.
