Fungi on the ceiling

Options
Hi,
We just woke up this morning to find fungi growing on our utility room ceiling. We moved into this house about 2 months ago and the utility room is underneath the bathroom. (Something tells me theres a problem with the shower or bath!) Anyway, I have done some looking around on the internet and can't seem to find out what kind of person I need to come and look at this. Basically we need someone to come and investigate what is going on and sort out the problem. Possibly find out if there is any bigger problems under the surface!
Does anybody know of anyone who could help (preferably in the sheffield area)?
Thanks

Have you had a look in the bathroom yourself? Our bath was leaking underneath as the wastepipe was bunged up with hair, hubby cleaned it out himself sorted! It may only be a bit of something which you can sort yourself only get a plumber if you really need it. But then like you asked get a recommendation.

BTW do you have a dryer in the utility? Could heavy condensation be causing the mould/fungi?

We dont have a drier in the utility room. Only thing we have is a freezer at the moment. I think its a problem with the shower that we can sort out ourselves. What I am more worried about is the damage that the rot and fungi may have already done. I don't know how likely this is and whether we should have someone come out and look if there is any damage to floorboards etc. Thanks for the reply.

ah I see. When we had a problem with a leaky toilet (yuk), our neighbour who is a carpenter/chippy/builder took a look.

The most important thing was to check if the wood in the joists has rotted. if they are solid you can replace floorboards. Obviously if joists are effected it becomes a much bigger job. Hopefully just a bit of floorboard and maybe a bit of plasterboard below.

Unfortunately we are on the wrong side of the pennines so can't recommend anyone in your area. Sorry.
Hopefully some others will respond in your area. Might be worth asking round friends/neighbours to see if anyone knows a builder or chippy someone with a general type of knowledge who could take a look initially?

    Sorry couldn't help more
    good luck
