My First Direct Maestro card is due to expire this month and they've now sent me a new Maestro card which expires in May so I guess they're not ready with the Visa cards yet!0

Same with me. I lost my wallet on Hogmanay, cancelled my Maestro card (found the wallet and contents an hour later, thankfully) ... but my new card is Maestro with an expiry date of May 2009. Phoned them, they said it's Visa Debit after that.0 -
Hi dont know if i'v done the right thing but i'v just applied online for a visa debit card, they wanted by bank sort code and account number of my other bank which is a nationwide cash card, nationwide wont give me a debit card despite me being a customer with them for over 2 yrs and having wages of £1400 a month, they said they are unable to do this as i have a bad credit rating even through i paid of all my debts and am now debt free they still wont give me one despite me never being in debt with them ever i dont even have a overdraft with them.
So thats when i came across first direct, why would they want my bank details from the nationwide anyway? also they said they will contact me is it likely i will be turned down? (due to poor credit in the past) if they did take me on then i would have my wages paid in there. all i want is a visa debit card feel so let down by the nationwide.0 -
First Direct won't give you a debit card unless you use them as your main bank account, you have to pay at least £1500/month into the account as well to get free banking. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
