Offer, but can I haggle with large retailer? (time sensitive question)

Options
Morning all money savers.

We were out and a about yesterday as we need to replace our bed. Harveys have a bed set that is on offer and very good for the money and was in budget.

However we then were advised the mattress on the bed which stated was free with the purchase was not and as such we needed to factor this into the budget equation (someone had pulled off the pinned tag and turned it over - the correct information relating to the purchase was on the other side). This then took us over budget.

I am happy to purchase this set as it ticks all the boxes but want a mattress thrown in (any old thing will do until we can save for a better one)

So can you haggle at Harveys? are the managers empowered enough to do deals such as this? as a big chain will they need sales so will want my business enough that a deal may be considered?? anyone know??

(the sale ends Monday - the store adv it would not be extended)

Many thanks

Tyger

You can haggle just about anywhere, if you don't ask you don't get, you have nothing to lose by making the request, you can say that you will go elsewhere if nothing can be done, always leave it so that they need to reply, if there is a pause after you have asked, wait for them to speak no matter how long it takes.

"(the sale ends Monday - the store adv it would not be extended)", how many times have we heard that one? Think DFS, they are always "extending by another week"

Do you have a link to the bed on Harveys web site?

Have you looked at buying online? We bought our bed from mattressman and it was the best price we could find and free next day delivery could not be faulted. The solid oak bed we bought cost us jsut over £300, when looking in high street places similar designs were more like £700+!!!!!

(I don't work for them, I am a happy customer. Would use them again when looking for a bed or mattress)

i would be amazed if you cant find it cheaper elsewhere.
ive found harveys to be very expensive. they have to be, their overheads on a retail park must be huge.
    Get some gorm.
