MBNA for SBT

Hi Guys,
I have a O balance on my MBNA card but need some cash for my current account. My overdraft bothers me and I'd like to clear it.
My question is this...
I have a card thats coming to the end of its 0% term (Mint) and as I haven't paid the balance up I need to transfer to it a better deal. Is it okay to transfer to the MBNA once I've done an SBT or should I put it onto a different card? (I have a Barclaycard with nothing on it)
I accidently missed one payment last year on the Mint card...will this mess up my credit rating? Should I check my credit rating before applying for another card?
