Alanya, Turkey....must see's/do's please

I am going to Alanya in Turkey on the 26th Sept for a week. Does anyone have any handy hints either generally or specific to Alanya as I have not been to Turkey before?

Alanya is my favourite place in the world. We went last year and loved it.

There is so many things to do.

There are boat trips, jeep safari's, turkish baths (really good!), waterparks etc all that can be booked through the local travel shops very cheaply.

In Alanya there is a castle you can go visit.

There is a huge market in Side which is the town next to Alanya. We never did get to it but it's supposed to be really good.

What hotel are you staying in?

We went in July so I aren't sure really. I do know though that of all the resorts in Turkey the ones down round there such as Alanya and Side are the ones which stay open longest throughout the year, because even in winter it's still nice and warm there, so I would presume most things will be open.

The people are really nice and friendly. One tip though is to make sun cream, stuff like that is quite expensive to buy there!

We stayed in a 2* hotel last year (i'm a student, we were on a tight budget!) and even that was lovely inside, so i'm sure yours will be fine.

I know what you mean about there not been much about Alanya on the internet, we didn't really have much idea what it was going to be like until we got there.

I'll have a look and see what pictures I've got and post them.

I'm so jealous! I'd move out there tomorrow if I could!

Oh thank you so much, it would be lovely to see some pictures. Do you know if the supermarkets are reasonably priced? We are self catering but I always take a few bits such as tea bags....cant live without a cuppa!!

Here are a few pics. They're pretty pointless photo's really, but you'll get an idea what it's like.

Don't worry about the look of the beach, this wasn't cleopatra beach, we'd just gone for a walk, this is a lot more stoney than the other one.

This is the boat trip we went on

Lovers Cave - apparently couples who jump from here stay together forever.

The blokes joking about on the boat.

A couple of random pictures taken from the roof of our hotel - we had a rooftop pool :p

Everything is really cheap, well it was last year but prices are supposed to have gone up quite a lot. We went to Marmaris and did notice the difference. To be honest, we never ended up buying much from the supermarkets because it was so cheap to eat out, but snack things such as crisps and buns etc we found really cheap to buy.

I don't know if you're into jewellery but that is one thing that is really good value over there. I got a ring, 15 ct i think it is, paid £50 for it, got it valued over here and it's worth over £150!
