RoyalMail Think That Property Is A Bussiness

I'm buying a residential property (repo).
The last owners run a small business from the property and on the royalmail website its classed as lets say "ABC Electronics".
As all utility services and insurance companies look up the address to get me quotes it comes up on their system as a business as well and I have to keep explaining the situation.
Its harder on websites as I put the postcode in and the door number does not come up.
The last thing I want is mail addressed to Planemad, ABC Electronics ,BLAH, BLAH.
How do I get this changed to fall back in line with all the other residential properties in the road.

How bizarre. Was it their registered office address? If so they should have changed it now.
Make sure it's a residential property and not slipped over into the murky world of business rates. One for your solicitor I think.0 -

Don't think so, its was just a bloke that worked from home. I do not think that business was conducted on the premises.0 -

For the bills to be in a company name he must have been running a fiddle or running the company from there.
Check with the council whether it's residential council tax or business rates that have been paid on it.
Seriously messed up if he wasn't running a business from there.
"royalmail website its classed as lets say "ABC Electronics"." - which bit of the royal mail site?0 -
Look up on companieshouse website the name of the company and see where the registered address is.

Postcode search - there are 100 properties on the street and they are all numbered 1-100 mine is number 15 but my prospective purchase is right at the end of the pack under ABC Electronics, 15 Blah Blah.0 -
So the building number is 15 which has already been established so that's a start.
Contact your local Royal Mail delilvery office (ask your postie for the name of the DOM - Delivery Office Manager or DOM Support).
One of these two people will be responsible for maintaining the APLUS - it's a database that holds all the addresses.
Inform them they need to make an APLUS change - in that it is a "Business Gone Away" and they can revert it back to a residential address with 15 X St/Rd, Anytwon, Postcode.
This system is what flows through to everywhere else like insurance companies but it's a matter of time when each individual companies update their system/purchase the info from RM.
(Contact the DOM/Support yourself - don't just rely on the postie to pass the message on for you).
Do the above in addition to contacting local council0 -
Send an email to addressmaintenance@royalmail.com and ask them to correct the details on the database. Ask them to remove the business name and replace with number of the house only.
Check local electoral office to make sure that their address is correct as well so they all tie up.
I'm dealing with something similar at the moment but involves incorrectly matching postcodes resulting in credit files missing lots of detail.0 -
You can check if business rates are being paid by going to VOA website www.voa.gov.uk and look under business rates. Just enter postcode and you will be able to see if property assessed for business rates. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

as said, just get in touch with you local delivery office
the APLUS is easily updated and should be constantly monitored
however its one of those jobs that are often done in large bursts0 -
Just spoke to address maintenance at Royal Mail and they have removed the business name from the address.
Many Thanks for all your input.0
