International Student Fixed Deposits?

Hi all,
I'm a non-EU international student who will be coming to UK for my first year in Cardiff. I'm thinking of putting some of my money into a good savings account and perhaps later transfer some into a fixed deposit. I was told Natwest is the best option for student savings account, but I would like to know if there are any other institution (secure ones!
can't afford to take risks) that offers better interest rate for a fixed deposit of 3/6/9 months duration?
Thanks

I suggest you re-post this question on the Savings and Investment branch of the forum. You are probably asking about what we call a fixed-rate savings account (or deposit account). And you do not need a student savings account (there is no such thing) but you should make sure you fill in the form that enables you to receive interest without tax being deducted, as is your right as a student.
I am pretty sure that NatWest will be far from your best choice: most of their accounts pay pathetically low interest rates. Check out Kaupthing; Icesave; and others.0
