Faulty tuner on LCD TV

Options
Hi everyone
I am needing some advice.
I bought a Toshiba Regza 37C3030D in July 07.
It was a choice between Toshiba or Samsung and at the time I thought I made the right choice until yesterday!
After ringing toshiba 24 hour helpline I was told that its probably a faulty tuner....I can receive all programmes on the ANALOGUE signal but nothing on DIGITAL (freeview). I checked the digital progs on an old tv with a digi box in another room and this proved it was NOT a signal problem. And I replaced the batteries in the remote hoping that would help but to no avail. In July 07 I spent £600 on the TV which I purchased from Dixons.......quite a subtantial investment.
Anyway I was wondering if the repair would be an expensive one?
I have researched that others have had the same problem with this model of TV but fortunately for them the fault developed WITHIN the first year guarantee.
Like many, money is not so plentiful here, so would I be wise to just buy a cheap "digi box" and forget about the repair?
Or....
Do you think if I "sweet talked" customer services they would do a repair FOC?..smiles.
To be honest I was very proud of my tv and at the time it was a "bargain" and received good reviews. And I do own a small Toshiba which is now 13 years old and it never gave me any problems hence my faith in choosing Toshiba. Plus their customer services is based in the UK and they have a 24 hour help line.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Kind regards
Clare

Three cheers for Toshiba Customer services!!!!

I rang C.S and without hesitation a very nice lady offered a "sympathetic repair" as the fault developed just outside the guarantee.
In other words .....it will be repaired F.O.C.
Thats what I call good "customer care".
I wont hesitate in buying a Toshiba product again....
    Thank you Toshiba!

Update....Turned out a software upgrade was only needed. TV was collected and returned in 3 days....smiles
