repairing ripped vinyl floor?

Hi, somehow my OH has managed to tear a V in the vinyl floor in kitchen :(
The floor is in 2 parts with the kitchen part already looking like crap and coming up, which have had to contact insurance company to deal with the company we got it from (had to go with them as was insurance job would never have gone near them otherwise) but this bit (in the dining room) had been ok until now (bar spills of varnish-how can I get them off?)
its pretty much smack bang in the middle of the floor, so how do I repair it and make it water tight? Its wrinkled a little too from the rip. Is it just a case of gluing it down, and is there a special glue to use? (floor underneath is plywood)
Am so angry, I thought vinyl was better to go for than laminate (what was replaced after a flood) because we couldn't afford tiles and this was supposed to be superstrong with a 7 year guarantee and he has managed to rip it by falling on it holding plastic tracking

I've superglued small tears in vinyl before. Smooth it out as much as possible, then superglue it down. Mine had a random mosiac pattern, so despite being in the middle of the room is not visible, and the tear, though also v shaped, was small to start with.

However, if you are unhappy with the quality, & already involving the insurance, speak to them about having the lot replaced.

I don't really want to make a claim on the insurance I just want the company involved to sort the part in the kitchen (they sent the original fitter round who said the problem was a massive water leak, hmm where did it all go-the floor and under cupboards is bone dry so can't see how there has been a leak-and we certainly haven't fixed any) and think it would probably be seen as a little suspicious seeing as how the tear happened the same day as I contacted them about the other bit (was just coincidence really, although the fitter guy basically accusing us of lying did stem the MASSIVE amount of alcohol consumed which probably was the cause of the accident:o
will get some glue today, have to go to B&Q anyway, hopefully won't be too obvious...
