Steam generator irons from Argos

Options
I finally took the plunge and bought this yesterday 410/1699 from Argos, a Bosch TDS2510. Now its definatly better than my old Tefal iron, but its not as good as I imagined, my ironing time was certainly not cut in half, and it weighs a ton. I have never owned a steam generator before and I couldnt choose between this model and 089/1068 kenwood vvx830. The kenwood was out of stock so that took the decision away from me.

£100 pounds is a lot of money for me and im now thinking of returning the Bosch and trying something else. I speant 4 hours yesterday reading reviews until I got sick of it.

So does anyone own either of these models and if so what do you think of them ? If not what do you recommend ? I have heard Tefal are the best but only the more expensive models. Both Tefal irons I have had in the past spit granules on my clothes after a short while so I wanted to try another brand.

Is it normal for the steam cord and parts of the handle to get hot ? It seems odd there are only 12 holes at the tip of the Bosch to let the steam out , are all steam generators like this ?

The Bosch is still on sale at £199 on some websites so I thought a £199 one reduced to £99 would be a better buy than one that started at £99.

My clothes came out all right but I had heard everyone rave about steam generator irons and now I am a bit deflated. Am I expecting to much ?

I've bumped this thread up as I'm thinking about buying one of these steam generator irons. I seen them advertised on digital and like the way they iron shirts and t-shirts on the hanger.

I bought a Phillips steam generator iron for £85 last year and I've been very impressed with it. It doesn't cut ironing time in half, but it must be taking something like 65% of the time though.

I've got a Phillips one and I like the fact that it's got a steam lock on the top of the handle. Locks the steam on so you don't need to keep your finger on the steam button that other makes have under the handle.

You can't exactly "iron" something on a hanger, i.e. if it's a shirt or blouse you can't iron the collar or sleeves but it will get light creases out of an item or make light work of a minimum iron garment.
