Hi all
I have 2 wireless router (O2 & Peak router) I do not use the peak wireless router as its slight older model and i use only the O2 W/L router. the O2 router is kept in the room where the BT tel. line is and a long network cable (around 20m long) connects it to my pc in the other room + my laptop connects wirelessly.
Now, i have a 2nd computer and i do not want cables all over the place, so can i use the the peak router somehow to connect the 2nd computer to the internet or network ? I DO have the needed short length crossover or network cables though. Both the router have 1 WLAN + 3 LAN ports at the back (i believe)
is there a way this can work ?...will this work ? : the long 20m cable from O2 router, which connects to 1 PC, instead, can i connect it to the 2nd router's (peak) WLAN port and 2 network cables (from LAN port) of the 2nd router to both the PC's...
i hope im making sense...Pls advice ..thank you

Your WAN and LAN ports have different connections... so that way wont work.
Your only option is to set up one of the routers as a wireless repeater... it will effectively relay the signal to / from the other router"Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:0 -
done it !!!... sorry people i didnt know by trying things out solutions do come up....this is what i did :
In the Main router : a long 20m cable from the WLAN port (internet port) goes into the LAN port of the 2nd router. this leave me with a WLAN port + 3 more LAN ports free on the 2nd router. so with the 3 free LAN ports i connected the 2 PC, leaving me with 1 free LAN port yet to connect to another PC if need be...thank you for all advices...
NB : i am not at all sure how secure this connection is but my firewalls on PC's may do the job...0 -
the security of your pC's on a wireless network isn't as easy to get round as the security of the network access itself. if you have no security enabled on the routers then in theory anyone near your house with a wireless connection can access the network and/or internetDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
