Ripping DVD to Creative Zen MP3 player

I just bought my 5yr old daughter an MP3 player for her Birthday, as her older sister has an ipod, and she wants to be like her!
I didn't think it was worth spending loads on an actual Apple Ipod, so I just bought a funky looking pink Creative Zen Mozaic. I was just going to get her a cheap 2GB version, as she doesn't know that many songs, but the shop assistant suggested going for the 4GB so that I can put a DVD on to it.
So thats what I went for. (plus it only came in pink in the 4GB version!)
However, I have been trying to rip a DVD onto the MP3 player, and keep getting the message : 'Unable to Rip DVD. DVD decoder that is required is not found on your computer'
I have been told that I can download DVD decoders from the internet, free of charge, and that will solve my problem.
I have tried this, and they either don't work, or I get asked to pay.
Can anyone else help me please?
Thanks in advance

What programs are you using to convert the DVD?
How do you mean?
I am just trying to put a copy of the DVD onto a Creative Zen Mozaic MP3 player.
I am using the 'Creative Centrale' which is the programe where you manage everything on the mp3 player.
Would that answer what you are asking? Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

If this is a store-bought DVD, it will have copy-protection, and so you'll need to use a programme to copy it onto your computer, and then another to convert it into a format the mp3 player can play (I think it plays AVIs).0 -

thanks, but no i haven't yet
it was a 30 day 3 trial, with option to buy at end of 30days, and wanted to take credit card details now.... which i though seemed a bit dodgy.
i was under the impression i could get something for FREE...Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
