Hiya,
Im looking to fit new kitchen cupboard fronts and draw fronts however Ive fell at the first hurdle as I drilled through a draw front after measuring up for the new handles but as the drill came through the other side it cracked and chipped around the hole it had created on exit.
Thinking my drill bits werent upto much I went to B&Q to buy some new wood drill bits got home tried them out and same thing again, so my question is how do I drill through them creating a nice exit hole.
The cupboards and draw fronts are mdf i think with a laminated surface.
Cheers
Pete

When you drill the door/drawer front hold it firmly on a solid, flat piece of scrap timber. Drill from the outside face of the door/drawer through and just into the scrap timber.

I normally ( I may be completely mad
) install doors before worrying about the handle. Mainly because I made the classic mistake of putting the handle on the wrong side ( next to the hinge )
So its on with the doors, then I use a couple of g -clamps ( protect the door surface)
to clamp a scrap of wood to the rear of door. Drill as been advised.0 -
nice one wallbash, looks like the way forward for me
