Your drivers are online so all you need to do is find a friend/neighbour/family member who has a vista install cd you can borrow.Everyone needs a volume control -
When you shout every day and make everthing a catastrophe,
no one will hear you when you need to say something really important.0 -

Thanks I've just checked and it says I have a D drive so I guess that's why I did'nt get one.0 -
A replacement HDD should cost around 30 pounds....and that's it.
It's possibly an SATA HDD, so the one above may not be suitable. Either way, the price will be similar.
Personally, I would replace it with a larger HDD, there being not much of a price differential.
If there is a COA sticker on the laptop, someone can point you towards a suitable disc and drivers for re-installation.
The problem with selling it when it isn't working, is that no one will know for sure that replacing the HDD will fix the problem.
So you are looking at a scrap price, unless you fix it.
If you still want to sell it, how much?
I could do with a new project, even though I don't actually need another laptop.
I guess a PM would be a suitable place to begin.0 -
Why not get a second opinion? If its the well known pc shop which we all know and love, then they are not the best at diagnosing faults, try small shop. Also a general point, are not hard drives covered by a separate manufacturers guarantee? I've replaced mine before and sent the old one back to the makers as it had a 3 year guarantee so ask for the old one back if you get it replaced. Always worth having a spare. Go through their website for details.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
