Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some help before the forum closes for maintenance. My church has just bought and audio interface (Tascam US 122L)for recording live worship and preaching. However the info in the manual is so scanty we are struggling to use it; in additon no all of us are novices when it comes to this stuff.
Could some one tell me if using XLR male lead to 1/4'' jack line in from the mixer to the device will result in us being able to record from all the other mics connected as we sing to the church,if not is there an alternative?
Thanks

There shold be a 1/4'' monitor jack for headphones or a monitor speaker on it somewhere, and perhaps a master volume control for it, and maybe even monitor levels for the individual feeds/mics. Jam a cable in there from your recording device, and you should be alright. Play with the volume level, you'll want it set reasonably high, but be careful not to over load the device. It is better to set the volume slightly higher on the source, and turn down on playback then vice versa.
Grab a volunteer to speak into the mic while you record them talking. Play with the volume level and have them describe the level into the mic ("the volume is now at 7 oclock"). From playing back the recording you should then find whereabouts the volume is best.
Fair winds!
EDIT:
Using the phones or the line out jack should work. Change the top right dial for the volume.Super geek.0 -
Thanks, so I presume that using the cables I talked about in my initial post should do the job, right? You can have God without religion!0

Depends what device you're recording with. The outs are 1/4'' jacks, so you need that on one end, and whatever your recording device has on the other. Also see the edit on the above post.Super geek.0
