Housing dilemma

Hi Everyone , not too sure why I am posting but since I have received so much help from this website I thought I would post this.
I got rehoused into temporary accommodation 3years old with my children by the council. I am waiting for a 4bed property , after talking to the council I have been told that they estimate that I would be house until at least 2years if not more , that will total around 6years. I am so frustrated. Is there a way I could be housed sooner ??
Any feedback/advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Ebony,
do you have bidding for council properties in your area? If so ask for guidance as to how it works, if you can bid up for larger properties.
Does your council have a private lettings officer, they can help find you a larger place with a LL who will accept HB ( if you are entitled?) or at a price you can afford- as there is not stock available in the councils possession. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi Lyn and thanks so much for replying , the trouble is that the area I live in is very expensive so it would make no difference if I am in private or temporary financially. I have tried bidding for larger properties but they arent any that have been put up for bidding .0

Hi Again Ebony,
It seems you keep falling to the bottom of the post pile here, and plus with the site being down, you havent had the replies I bet you need.
Could you tell us a little bit more about your situation.
If you could tell us what town you are in or postcode even better, someone might know if there is a better organisation to help you.
With bidding in some areas, the more you do it, the more priority you can be given. How many times have you bid?
Are you in reciept of HB? Or do you work? What is the amount you can spend on rent in your area? Its certainly not unheard of on this site that an eagle eye somewhere can find an alternative for you, or at least point you in the right direction.
how many children do you have, do you have a partner too living with you or not. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

shut up and get a life .. stupid kid , probally sitting there abusing people because you have no friends or a life . wait till u leave home and have to live properly ! ..
Of course, I'm sitting at home. Where else would I be on a sunday morning? As to abusing people because I "have no friends or a life", have you read your own post?
Unfortunately I'm not a kid anymore. I am however sick and tired of having to pay for other people (like the OP) who feel they are entitled to a six bed house at my expense.
I reject that. If OP wants a six bed house, should get a job and earn it. Not leach of the taxpayers .[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

I suggest those among us who feel the need to throw vitriol around learns to READ.

You've been 3 years in temp accomodation. You need some serious help. Have you spoken to shelter and the CAB? Been to your MP?
Needing a 4 bedroom house and waiting for a council one will be a long wait. Why can't you find a privately rented place? Is it that they are too expensive? I know there are not many 4 beds in sensible price ranges where I live.
Could you manage with a 3 bed? How old are your kids?
You need the help of shelter/CAB and doctors, teachers and other professionals to get permanent housing.0 -

There's always someone else better off than you are. There's always someone else paying higher taxes than you do and there's always someone else subsidising the life that you lead.
There have been or will be situations where you need help from the state. Education for example or when you become ill and need £300 worth of treatment in a year. Can I, when it comes to that time, tell you to go get a job? To say Well, if you'd have worked harder then you could afford the treatment yourself". Because fella there are many people who pay much higher taxes than you and yet who do not or would not deny you the state's help when you will inevitably need it.
So my advice to you is to keep it shut and realise that not everyone is as brilliantly educated, rich and wonderful as you and sometimes needs a little help.0
