Add a name to my credit card

Hi, since my other half and I are now married can I add his name to my credit cards making us both responsible for the debt? Also will the credit card company reduce my credit limit if he has a bad credit score?

A credit card cannot be held jointly.

As the principal card holder, you alone have sole responsibility for the account. Additional cards in your husband's name would not make you jointly responsible for the debts and your credit limits would not be affected.

Credit cards can be held jointly. When i took out a halifax credit card it was a joint application hence both our names are on the monthly statement and we are both responsible

When I took out the lloyds tsb card it was my application and nothing to do with him but I dont want him just to be a card holder, but actually put his name on the account where they would have to do a credit search on him.

You can add additional cardholders who are not liable for any debt incurred, you wont be able to change this account to a joint liability one though - it would be a completely different set of T's&C's so would require a brand new account
