Mortgage Interest Relief

I'm currently on IS and getting mortgage interest relief. The CSA are finally getting it together and after 12 months it looks like I'm going to start getting maintenance payments. I'm guessing that the maintenance will be about £80 a week, I have 3 children, and am guessing his wage based on what he used to earn. Obviously this is over the IS amount? Does anyone know what will happen with the mortgage interest relief? I will be better off by £20 a week , but obviously can't afford to pay the mortgage interest on that. I can't work as I have a disabled child who gets DLA and I get CA for. I've emailed different people for advice, but am not getting anything back, and I'm getting quite concerned now as to what will happen. because of my sons disabilities finding another house to rent will be a nightmare, he's destroyed this one, but at least it's ours, and I can repair it as he gets older. I don't want to end up homeless with three children. Does anyone know what will happen, and have any advice?
Thanks

Mm. Something not quite right here.
You're saying that if you receive £80 pw maintenance you're £20 pw better off than on I.S. ? If you're getting Carer's Allowance you should also qualify for "Carer Premium" on top of your £60.50 pw Income Support personal allowance
... that's another £27.75 pw I think, bringing your Income Support up to £88.25 pw (before the mortgage).
I think (*think*) DWP ignore the first £10 of maintenance so they'd lop £70 pw off the £88.25 pw, still leaving you with £18.25 pw Income Support in your hand plus the mortgage still being paid.
You need to check with Income Support on Monday to find out if they know that you receive Carer's Allowance for your disabled child. Because you should qualify for Carers Premium on top of your basic £60.50.0 -
That's the figure I was given on the phone a few weeks back.zappster1966 wrote: »If you're getting Carer's Allowance you should also qualify for "Carer Premium" on top of your £60.50 pw Income Support personal allowance

Didn't know anything about it until the chap I was speaking to mentioned it, so came as a nice surprise -- I called to try and find out what our entitlement would be if we had no significant capital behind us when my compulsory redundancy goes through so that we can start adjusting our budget while we still have time to do so (I get 3 months notice, so won't actually be unemployed until a week before Christmas or thereabouts!).
My husband is on the highest rate of both DLA elements, and we also qualify for an extra £36.85 due to him being "sick or disabled" and another £18.15 disability guarantee -- but I don't know what the state of play is with these elements when the person getting DLA is a child. (We got extra through Tax Credits due to his DLA while I was also on Incapacity for a spell last tax year -- and that was another surprise too!)Cheryl0
