Barclaycard doing strange things to my current account

Hello everyone, nothing major, just a minor niggle I'd like celared up if anyone knows the answer!

I sometimes pay my barclaycard with my barclays debit card. As usual the amount I pay dissapears from my cleared balance and then a few days later appears as a debit on my statement with all the details. However, there's also a £1 difference between my cleared balance and the balance on my statement. This £1 difference hangs around for several weeks. It's getting quite irritating and messes up my budget spreadsheet which I keep accurate to the penny!

If anyone could shed light on this I'd appreciate it. I know that sometimes when you make a card payment the company might only take a £1 until they sort their lives out and then take the correct amount (this is the explanation given to me by the bank), but this is a £1 hanging around for no good reason weeks after they've taken their money!
Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.
Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)
Loan from Friend = £2000

The problem is that, in the majority of cases, the £1 pre-auth can't be associated with the final transaction - so it hangs around as long as it's been told to hang around.
  • Thanks :) You've put my mind at rest. It's been bugging me for a very long time!
