I'm just online trying to find the number of an emergency vet, my cat has just come running in (she's running about all over the place) and is dribbling/foaming at the mouth, plus her pupils are all dilated. No idea what is wrong or what to do... any suggestions????? please

Hi,
Sorry to hear your cat is not well. I don't mean to worry you but it sounds as though she might have been poisoned (or she could have eaten a toad), but I think you need to get her to a vet ASAP.
Can you manage to get close enough to check her mouth, she may have something caught there and that's why she is running around in a panic.
I hope she gets better soon though, take care.0 -
i'd get the wee thing to the vet asap, as poster above says it could be poison. My mums cat did the same a few years ago, and we had to rush him to the vet.2008 Wins: 2 x VIP tickets to Ministry Of Sound, Umbrella, Tea Towel, £50 Tesco Gift Card, Amplifier (worth over £1,100 alone).

From a quick look on the internet it sounds like your cat has had a convulsion. Convulsions can be caused by brain injury or disease, parasites, fright, constipation, poisoning.
I hope you cat is OK.0 -
Hi,
I've kept her in the kitchen (for about 10-15 mins) while I found the number for & rang the emergency vet. In that time the foaming/dribbling has stopped & she seems to have settled (as in looks more comfortable). Had a conversation with the vets & they think it could be that she has licked a toad as well, hence the copious dribbling (trying to get rid of the icky taste). She was jumping about in the grass a little earlier as though she was trying to catch something, so seems as though it is the most likely explanation... I am going to watch her for the next 20mins, and see how she is. Vets said ring back or go anytime, they are 24-hour emergency, which is reassuring.
Thank you all so much for very quick responsesMuch apreciated in my moment of panic.....

I am glad your cat is feeling better now, I hope it was just a toad she licked....
I had a similar thing with one of mine, one minute there was a toad in the garden (oh good I thought perhaps it was eat all the slugs) and the next there wasn't. The next day my cat comes in looking really, really sorry for himself and not eating so I rushed him to the vets. About two hours after he went to the vets he was as right as rain and proceeded to eat me out of house and home....turns out he had eaten said toad. I was told that every cat does it at some point and then learns from that experience and never does it again.......so just to let you know it is horrible but the vet sounds about right, toads really do taste quite icky (not that I have ever tried one!)0 -
Notsosharp, she is fine this morning - I have just fed her & she's demolishing it too!!! So luckily we didn't end up going across to the vet's, but I am glad I could ring them - and post on here!!!!! I didn't know what to do - and she looked so sorry for herself as well... Hopefully, as you say, she'll have learned her lesson now!!!!!!!!!!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0

I am so glad to hear your cat is Okay.....I think any toads in your garden will now be safe!!
I am just waiting for my other cat to learn his "lesson" now0 -
The only consolation there Notsosharp is at least you will realise what the problem is!!!!
I too will now be waiting for Lola's brother to do the same....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
