Hi,
ive just taken over an existing business (cafe pulse - only vegetarian restaurant in essex!!), and obviously want to keep the existing number, but would also like to have broadband and eventually (or straight away) have wi fi for my customers.
The current number is with BT, can anybody advise what would be the best (and cheapest) way to proceed?
many thanks
Jim

I work for BT (i know what your going to say! but it pays the bills! lol).
It should be straight forward, if the line is still active try and obtain a BT account number so that security/validation is not a problem when you ring. Just call BT business sales 0800 800 152, explain you have just taken over the business and want to keep the number, they will set you up with your own account and charge you a 19.99 business take over fee on the first bill.
If the line is inactive (i.e. the previous account holder has rung to close his account) then you will need to do the same call BT business sales 0800 800 152 quote the tel number you would like to have (note: if this is the case then you are not guaranteed to keep the existing number), connection will take a little longer and may be charged full connection fee.
Note when ringing BT sales, explain that the line must be broadband compatible, because if the line is a featureline (i.e. dial 9 for an outside line then this can cause complications when activating broadband) so best to tell them.
Note: Always obtain an order reference number, and a name of who you have spoken to.
Hope this helps. :beer:0 -
wifi for customers... 2 options that are the main ones..
btopenzones, or thecloud.. these are pay solutions, i'm sure there is a department to discuss with them installing kit in your business to be able to give wifi to customers..
just sharing a broadband connection for customers to use, may be against terms of service, especially if you don't know who has logged on, and what they've actually been doing on the internet..0
