Hi,
My husband is being sent to Germany for 2 weeks, I am sure that he can claim on JPA for this, does anyone know under what.

What's JPA???0
-
It is the customer system people in the service use to claim expenses and adminster leave and payroll0

Oh??? I was in the services and used to administer pay - I've never heard of it! Maybe different service or times have moved on - I've got a few greys now!
There was something called LOA - Local Overseas Allowance, but for somewhere like Germany, back in the 'olden days' it would have been a couple of quid a day at the most - is he staying in barracks / forces accom - if yes, maybe even less / nothing. Maybe someone who is more up to date than me will come along soon and help.0 -
Ok if he is going for 2 weeks he will get LSA, but this will be actioned by his pay clerk as long as he book out of the Unit,
Also he will be able to claim Incidental expenses (IE) at £10 per day for overseas as long as he is not on an exercise0 -
yes he can claim on JPA....he can get an advance but i warn you now that can be a real pain in the butt to clear when you get back. Its better to do it once he gets back
make sure he keeps every reciept!!! and any paperwork to prove he was sent to germany (must be kept for a year)
he can claim 10 per day straight off for being overseas (£5 without reciepts £5 with) this is for phone calls, laundry, daily newspaper (under other duty travel)
Also he can get LOA but must be out of the country for 10 straight days(admin office will do this)
Also LSA again has to be away from home for 10 days min (amount depends on the LSA days he already has again admin office will do this)
seeing as he is married i think thats about it (unless he's staying in a hotel then he can claim for food)
If he is staying in Military accom as i said as being married he cannot claim food back (PADS can't claim for food if staying in military accom even if its pay as you dine in the cookhouse/mess)
Hope this helps
as i said better to do it when he gets back as IF he doesn't go for whatever reason he will owe the Army money and we all know how good they are at taking that off youIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
A bit late but if he is going overseas and is going to claim the £10 daily for "Incidentals" as mentioned above, it is a non-receipt based claim. This can all be done on JPA as long as he fills in the correct boxes on the claim form.0

Also make sure that each day is claimed separately for IE (what a pain - use the duplicate button) or else the claim will be rejected.................."Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed."
