Samsung or Philips DVD Upscaler???

Dudes,

What do you think of:

Samsung DVD-1080P8/XEU - HDMI Upscaling DVD Player

or

Philips DVP5980 - Multi-region capable DVD Player With 1080P Upscaling and HDMI

All I know is that I want a decent upscaler to play primarily Region 2 DVDs on my nice Samsung 37 inch telly.

I don't think you will be disappointed with either but if it was me I'd go for the Samsung, it's a newer model and will go well with your tv, you will also be able to use the tv remote to control it etc.

We have an upscaling DVD player (the Phillips) and we are not impressed. The quality between upscaled and standard is hardly noticable. We can only really tell the differnce when watching photo discs. Personally I would save your money until blu-ray gets cheaper.

(we only purchased ours because our old DVD player packed up, and the phillips was compatable with our existing Phillips TV)

Ive found the PS3 to be as good as my pioneer upscaling dvd player! WELL worth a buy (On top of the fact it plays blu rays etc as well)
