Ooh, I would've definately posted it off. A minor is not legally able to enter a credit contract so if he did get the money it would be impossible for the credit company to get it back because the contract would be null and void.
  • Couldn't believe it - a letter addressed to him from Ciyy Financial offer ing him a pre-approved loan from £500 to £10,000!!!

What wuld have happened if he'd got to the post before me, filled it in and posted it off. He's got his own building socieity ac book , so he could have had it paid in there - there were no other details on the letter apart from his name and address and room for a signature to accept it, so they wouldn't have picked up on his date of birth either!

Legally - would he have had to pay this back - Don't worry - I'm not considering it - I rang them up and blasted them down the phone LOL!!

These banks just target any name they can get their eyes on. Whether a minor will finally be given a loan or not is surely not so much the issue, as the fact that youngsters grow up with the idea that borrowing tens of thousands is normal.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I've noticed a lot of these pre-approved offers actually say you are pre-approved to apply for a credit card, often they make the most of the pre-approved bit and the limits availble on the card to make it appear as though you have actually been pre-approved for the card.
