New floor and units to be replaced after washing machine after water damage

Options
Hi everyone,

Would be very grateful if someone could help me as to how to go about getting quotes for the work i need doing to my kitchen.
To cut a long story short ordered a washing machine from dixons online (WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN) because i thought was getting a good price and believed the model i wanted to be instock. Turned out not to be but was not informed of this , like i had been within 2 days of trying to order same machine from boots.com. Anyway weeks and weeks pass and then finally machine arrives, paid to have it installed so the guy fumbles around and ends up leaving my machine in a different language (Lcd screen) tells me to read the manual and figure it out! So call up hotpoint helpline and talked through resetting it.

Washing machine has been leaking ever since. Had a plumber to turn off water supply only to find the pipes leaking from the screw not being tightened!

So now i need to know do i get quotes for the floor and damaged units separately or is it possible to get priced for everything all at once?
I've called a few floor companies but still waiting for a response.
Plus i dont have a regularly shaped kitchen so really need people to come and measure up. What sort of tradespeople do i call?

thanks in advance for any help you can give

think its unlikely to find a single contractor to replace the lot. you will have to get a man for each job: the floor and then the units.
i assume you have a laminate floor?

Cantact your insurance company, they should be able to get Dixons(DSG) to sort it out. IMO they are 1 of the worse companies in this counrty for customer service.
  • Yep have laminate. Completely bowed, bouncy and squelches if you step on it!
Yes should have known better as i had a previous bad experience with dixons in 1999 and had boycotted using their stores ever since, i wouldnt even walk through a store. Thought i'd give them a second chance and wished i hadnt as soon as i had to chase them up for my order even though they'd taken my money from my account weeks before anyone could tell there was one to be delivered!
Shocking customer service. Shocking. Spoke to a sympathectic lady on monday but she said she didnt have a number for the head office? and to use the email and address on the website. Explained i had already twice with no reply to witch she said try again marking it urgent.
I did and as i write this have not received a reply but i have compiled together my final letter before leagl action takes place:rotfl: sent by recorded delivery and should reach their head office monday.
Its absolutely riddiculous that they think it ok to ignore people their customers moreover.
I have taken pictures, video evidence so if it goes all the way to court it will so what their proffessionally trained fitters can do and not rectifying or contacting a customer following a complaint will do.

I mean had someone just came back to check the installation no way near half the damage would have occured.
Its a hefty machine there is no way i could move it by myself.

Why aren't you claiming on your insurance? They will do all the sorting out for you.

  • didnt realise this matter would take so long and so much damage would be caused, so didnt think it was an insurance matter. However now that things need to be replaced i think my the insurance might say i hadn't contacted them in time? Will find out anyway but did read another thread where a lady had damage due to a new washing machine and stated insurance would not pay out if she said damage was due to a new machine. Will re read the small print and call them up.

I still need to get about 3 quotes from various trades which is what i'm struggling with.
