If you've lost a lot in tax credits, I would have thought your income was at the level where she would get a sizeable amount of grant.

I'd get rid of the TV package if you are struggling.
You can still get CITV and CBBC/CBeebies without paying, so long as you keep the dish. If you pay a one off £20 for a freesat card, that gives you pretty much all the channels you can get on freeview in fact.
