Internet on my laptop

Hi all,
just looking for some recommendations for what I need.
We are with virgin media cable for our pc and now need to get internet on the laptop.
We have two laptops( both freebies from work) , a brand new one which I think is wifi enabled, and an older one.
Am I right in assuming I need a router for the original pc and should only need a usb thing for the older laptop?
Want to do this as cheaply as possible so any suggestions would be much appreciated?

Does the older laptp have wifi, if so you could buy a wireless router but im guessing it doesn't have wifi so yes you could what you suggested so something like this could do the job

I'm pretty sure the older laptop does not have wifi, but having said that it's not absolutely essential that that has the internet, just the newer one. Would be good if I could do both though?
Couldn't find a link on your post, should there have been one?

Thanks that's just the sort of thing I think I need. Do you think I'll find similar cheaper than that, or is that about as cheap as they go?
Any other suggestions too?
