I have been given some soft baby toys from a friend which are in need of a clean. Can you suggest the best way of cleaning they as my little one whats to put them straight in her mouth.

  • I often pop my littlens toys in a pilow case and pop them in the washing machine and sit them in the airing cupboard to dry out. The pillow case is just in case anything falls off , if it does I wouldnt give it to them for obvious reasons hope that helps

If you have a dishwasher and they are of a plastic kind I would put them through
    I haven't got one!
  • I always used to wash our soft toys on a regular basis. Even when they are new, they get sucked chewed and yucky after a while. Then, as above-in the airing cupboard.

Always put them in a bag or pillowcase when doing them in the washing machine and tie it off well. If a seam goes the stuffing can make one heck of a mess deep in the innards - I once spent an entire morning stripping and cleaning a machine back in the days when a bearing change only used to take me three quarters of an hour or so. :)

  • If they can't go through the washing machine, Kim and Aggy :D suggest using an ordinary bar of soap, some water and a cloth. Just wring out the cloth well, rub some soap on it, then rub the toy. Repeat with fresh water.

Just chuck them in the wash - I regularly do a wash of toys that have been chewed, cat fluffed etc. I normally put them through the drier too - never had a problem.

  • I've successfully cleaned soft toys that couldn't go through the washing machine by using a small brush (ie a nail brush) and good old hot water and soap and giving them a good scrub. Rinsed them with water as well then either popped them in the airing cupboard or hung them over the bath to drip-dry.

Soft toys in the washing machine as suggested.
Hard/soft plastic toys... scrub them with an old toothbrush and diluted bleach and RINSE WELL!
