Credit card cheques

I'm needing to pay off a booked holiday early in December - what is the best way to do this: Should I use a Credit card cheque, cost £12 per cheque, so that I avoid paying the Travel Company 2% for using my Visa Card - on a £4k trip 2% is worth saving! If I use the Credit Cheque I could then transfer to a 0% balance transfer card offer or should I take out a new card with a 3 month new purchase deal? Or something else?? I'm looking to get the debt all repaid by the summer... July? maybe sooner.

What card do you have? Are you sure about £12? Also cheque transactions usually attract higher interest rate from the date of transaction - check your T&C.flor62 wrote:... Should I use a Credit card cheque, cost £12 per cheque, so that I avoid paying the Travel Company 2% for using my Visa Card
You can do this for any balance - resulting from either a purchase or a cheque transactionIf I use the Credit Cheque I could then transfer to a 0% balance transfer card offer
Why 3 months? 6 and even 9 months deals are available: http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htmor should I take out a new card with a 3 month new purchase deal? Or something else??

One thing to remember when using a credit card cheque (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!) is that you do not get any protection under the Consumer Credit Act!
Even though it is a transaction that will appear on your credit card statement, because it is a cheque, it is deemed not to be atransaction covered by the act.
A lot will depend on who you are booked through and who the travel company is but if there is any doubt about either company's financial status then for me paying the surcharge would be a small price for peace of mind.0
