We have our chooks in the old rabbit hutch which they are nearly big enough to go in to a coup, however the ones we have seen in the shops are over priced and a bit flimsy, same again for bunny hutches (he's a french lop).
We are thinking about having a bash at making our own, kinda akin to a childs playhouse but with a run built in. We have been looking on ebay for actual playhouses to convert but no such luck...
Is anyone willing to share their home made houses so i can get a good idea of plans and sizes.
Many thanks

Hi,
I don't have any pictures of home-made hutches, but this is what I made for my late rabbit Flash to live in:

It cost me about £60 in total including the litter box, bed, carpet, seagrass mat etc. and I had plenty of grids left so could have built a bigger one.
As for a chicken coop, ours isn't DIY but it was built by the father of the guy that runs the pet stall on the local market and cost about £90. As such I'm not sure that this will be helpful or not, but you can see pictures here:

I basically told him what I wanted and he sketched it on a scrap piece of paper before building it for us. Also, please excuse the pine woodshavings - I am aware of the dangers and no longer use them, but there was nothing else available at the time!
For the chickens - have you considered an old dog/cat kennel with run? Not sure quite how it would work, but you might be able to convert one?0 -
We're getting this playhouse for our mini lops when we move...

I stole the idea from 'Wendle' on this site, I love the look of it, I think hutches are quite unsightly and a playhouse will have more protection from foxes;

Playhouses are cheaper in the long run, esp if you put down lino or something that protects the wood. It shouldn't need replacing in the rabbits lifetime.The only thing worse than smug married couple; lots of smug married couples.0
