Wondering if anyone can offer a (relatively) cheap solution to my problem.
My new office is at basement level and as a result the signal to my mobile (orange) has become non-existant.
Is there any solutions to this ?

Not really, there are some highly illegal solutions out there on the web, which involve signal repeaters, but if you're found out it's a very serious offence!
You could try another service providor, and see if they have a better signal that can penetrate a basement.
The best thing you could try is see if there's a car aerial kit (not the bluetooth handsfree kit, but a proper car aerial) for your phone - my work's phone didn't have a signal where I lived but once attached to the car aerial kit, gave me a 2 bar signal and I was well out of the service area! The passive repeater I tried did nothing!
