thanks for all the advice so far.
Intend to buy a house again, but as others doing will sit back and wait to see how the market goes. I expect to rent for probably a year at least from all i've read on the housing market.
I only work part time so i only use up my personal allowance. OH is in 20% bracket but could be tipped into 40% with interest so i will have to work out the split.
He will have to watch his P's and Q's if its all in my name. Also trying to work out inheritance tax implications as we are not wed, have kids though. A bit morid but you never know.0 -
If you haven't made a will, do ensure that the rules of intestacy do what both you and he want. If you aren't married or legal civil partners you're probably not going to like what intestacy does. He should also have a will but it's a little less urgent for him if the assets will mostly be held in your name. The Living Together guide and specifically the tale at the start of the wills PDF may be of interest, since you probably don't want him to have to take legal action against the children in order to receive anything from your estate.0

Interest rate of just 5% on £725k is over £36,000 already, so you need to split the money up between you. With that kind of interest coming in you need to think carefully about where the interest goes....Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

As a long time lurker, I have found this a really useful thread. We too are renting after a house sale and have a bit less than “bootalishus” to invest. Some is in a KE internet savings account, with the bulk being with NR. However we would also like to invest in the currency market. Having studied baby pips, we have concluded that Forex is probably not for us. Citibank has been mentioned, but any other ideas or suggestions would be graciously received. Thanks.0
