Hiya guys hope someone can help me.
About 4 weeks ago I got a brand new Apple Macbook from Pc World. Everything has been fine but now it will no longer charge, it is recognising the mains adapter is plugged in but it just isnt charging. I used a program called Battery Health Monitor and it says the following:
Original Capacity 100% 5020 mAh
Current Capacity 102% 5096 mAh
Current charge 12% 616 mAh
Charge Cycles 11% (45)
What do I do? x

Take it back to PC World, it's under warranty.0

Hmm, it probably will. It's likely they'll need proof of purchase so they don't think you're just some chap trying to swindle some free support out of them.
If you know the store he bought it from then it may be worth phoning them and seeing if they kept any records of him, name, address, with the serial number of the machine. You never know, they may be able to help. It'll do no harm in asking anyway. Let us know how you get on.0 -
i just rang pc world they said its not up to them and to ring apple, crossed my legs with macbook on my knee, it tilted slightly and started charging. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Before sending it away anywhere, get yourself to an Apple Store and talk to someone at the genius bar. They offer a free service to check over your laptop and will run all sorts of diagnostic checks to determine what the problem is. I had a problem with my hard drive after about 8 months, took it there, and they had a look and replaced the hard drive for free on the day as it was under warranty.
This might be an easier route than trying to get anything from PC World.
Go to this site http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/ , choose your closest apple store and book an appointment.
Best of luck!0 -
jdeez88, you beat me to it. That was going to be exactly my next bit of advice.
It's interesting that it started charging there. Perhaps it's not so much the tilt that made a difference but maybe the change in position moved the battery. Try taking the battery out and refitting it. There's a battery lock on the underside that requires a quarter turn with a coin and the battery should fall out. Always worth a try.0 -

Firstly, it is up to them. Your bought the MacBook from PC World, not Apple. That Apple also offer a manufacturer's warranty is inconsequential.
Secondly, this sounds like its a problem with the charger. They tend to break a lot more often than batteries do.0
