Im flying from BHX to Osaka on the afternoon of Tues Nov 11th this year.
Im flying alone and just wondered how busy these flights are on Tuesdays and whether Emirates ever upgrade if the flight isnt busy.
I know the upgrade thing has been covered before but im looking for specific info on Emirates. Cheers.

Not much chance; none if it is not busy.
For my upgrade on Emirates, I checked in very early for the first leg of my journey and got a desirable (exit row) seat. For my onward journey from Dubai the 'plane was very busy, and so they moved me into Business.0 -
if the plane is quiet, what you want is a cheap mans business class (my speciality actually), where by you get the middle 3 or 4 seats, to yourself, and put all the arm rests up and stretch out and sleep like a log!
well i do after a couple of beers anyway...

Emirates have a policy of no upgrades, even for their own staff unless operationally necessary and at that point, their most frequent flyers may be moved. Singapore Airlines have a similar policy, you only travel in the cabin you pay for0

Aside from the useful advice you have already been given - why on earth would they?
Can second Markymoo's suggestion, I've slept my way through huge chunks of quite a few flights exactly like that

Coz its my birthday when i fly and they may be feeling generous.
A friend of mine got an upgrade on Virgin once when the flight wasnt too busy as she was flying out to get married. You never know your luck.0 -

By strange coincidence, you will find that most (if not all
) people have a birthday at least once a year - is there any reason why you should be different to everyone else?
(I hate it when people don't quote properly, messes up my quote as well!)Gone ... or have I?0 -
Last time I flew long haul I had the four middle seats to myself. I had dinner, watched some TV, the lights were dimmed, the cabin was quiet and I stretched out wrapped in blankets and pillows (four of each, of course). Could I sleep? Could I bu99ery. I don't know how you do it.0

Thats what i love about this board, the smart alec answers after asking the simplest of questions. It seems that if you have over a certain amount of posts next to your name you can be condescending to others of less postings and assume a high and mighty attitude to anyones questions like they ought not to ask them in the first place. I thought this forum was a place for people to try and save money and share tips and experiences with others, not to try and belittle them.
True everyone has a birthday once a year, not everyone flys off on holiday on their birthday though do they.
Some people eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
If it was your birthday and you were buying a car, would you expect or think it realistic that the dealership would give you a car worth double the price because of it?0

Perhaps some people need the obvious pointing out to them.....I am talking about you here! Dont you just hate a cheapskate who whines when they dont get the answer they want.
It has nothing to do with the amount of posts people make, you will find that it is the good advice that they give that makes them keep posting, but once in a while you get people who think they deserve first class treatment for cheapskate price.....or so my understanding of the board is as i dont post much and im not trying to be belittling people as you put it!0
