Credit search on own account

Is it still the case that obtaining your own credit file from any of the CRAs ie Experian / Equifax will result in the search being recorded on one's own credit file but that these searches cannot be seen by any other credit lender(s) (searches) ie these types of personal searches can only be seen by the account holder and the Credit Reference Agency only.
