receptionjpeg-med.jpgCould this be a stickied thread? There are lots of nice dresses in here.

I'm really having trouble finding what I'd like. I'm not into glamour/fashion, but I can still be girly. I'm trying to find something similar to this (home made) dress, worn by a member of another board on which I post. I'd want a bit of a higher waist, and maybe different sleeves (though I like these too). I seem to be running into 90% strapless gowns, which is just not going to happen for me. Ever. No way. No how. Never. :p

Anyway, if there are recommendations of sites to search, I'd love to hear them. I've been searching for "empire waist" and "long sleeve" and am just getting really frustrated.

Have you looked at the dresses on the Debenhams website? They have some lovely empire line dresses.
If you've not tried any dresses on, then you should really go and see what styles suit you best. Some look great in pictures but terrible on and some look awful on the hanger but incredible when worn!

Sammy your dress is amazing! Where did you get it?
  • Hi everyone,

Im new here, I only joined on friday as I am desprate to save lots of pennie's for items for my wedding, which we don't have a definate date for yet but it will be next year. I went yesterday to a lady's house via a friends recommendation and with a 20% off voucher as I had been recommended, well I thought I was in wonderland, with well over 200 dresses to go through, all are samples or surplus stock all designer as the website describes and all beautiful too and I found my dress, there are only a few currently on her website but I saw my dress(well the one that i liked;) ) there on the website and tried it on, after trying about 10 more I still went back to this one, it was priced at £299 which was fab anyway and with the 20% off I paid just £240 for a dress that would have been almost £1000, bargain and I can't believe my luck, she also has veils, tiaras and shoes at bargain prices and will discount even further for full packages:D

    I hope this works...here it is http://www.thebridalsalerail.co.uk/ViewItem.php?ItemID=26

It's a size 14 sample but I can get it altered easily as Im a size 10/12, this will cost extra pennie's but with the 20% off I really don't mind

I would definately recommend them I was so surprised and the lady was lovely and I can now offer the 20% discount to anyone too so please let me know if you would like it

All of your dresses look amazing, I hope that you like mine:o

Yeah, I've checked out Debenhams, but I really want something with sleeves! I haven't tried anything on yet, as I'm working on losing some weight, and everything will fit differently, I hope. Empire waist works well for me with other dresses, as I'm smaller on top than the bottom.

lessismore, the embroidery on that dress is wonderful! Congratulations on the bargain!

Does anyone know what happened to my picture?

Aww i'm really glad you got the one you want lessismore :D
  • All your dresses are so beautiful, I'm gutted though because I can't join in, I cannot find a picture of my dress anywhere online and they won't let me take a picture of it in the shop even though I've paid a deposit and some money off it. It's from The Wedding Palace off Doncaster Road in Barnsley. It has a black organza skirt with detachable cream roses and a cream and white brocade style bodice, the description doesn't do it justice, I was going to buy this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Davids-Bridal-Wedding-Dress-Gown-CV008-1200-Ivory-12_W0QQitemZ180291766391QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180291766391&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

but totally fell in love with my other dress. I can't wait until I've paid it all off and can get my filthy little mitts on it. I really do think I'm going to hug it, I love it that much. I think it's by Romantica but it's been discontinued so that might be why I can't find picture of it. Good luck everyone!!!

Ooooh some beautiful dresses on here. Some of you will have seen mine before but this is a good excuse for me to show it off again! Hopefully I will look as good as the model does (we can dream can't we?!?) I'm having mine made in Ivory by Landy.

How do you paste the picture directly into the posting as I can't work out how to do it?

It's a beautiful dress but it's not mine, I'm going to see if I can get a sneaky photograph of it and post it on here. TBH because it's in Yorkshire and I live in Liverpool I could do with a photograph so I can see if things I buy will match, well that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. ;)

    Thanks aimee
