Incapacity benefit - permitted work?

Hi all
Am hoping someone can help me with my query.
Hubby and I have recently made some items as gifts for friends, but have had some enquiries as to whether we would make them for other people and sell them to them.
Now my OH works full time but I have recently gone onto incapacity benefit for a recurrent illness.
As this is only going to be the odd order here and there, and I can help hubby as and when I feel up to it, I'd quite like to give this a go. However, if its likely to jeopordise my IB then it's not worth it.
I've read about permitted work whilst on IB but does this kind of 'self employed' earning fall into this category? What would I need to do? Show receipts for materials and invoices etc in order to prove profits?
Can anyone advise me?
Many thanks

Hi Roxie,
Sorry I don't know the answer, but you need to keep everything above board.
Could you talk to someone from the benefits office, they would probably know the answer.
Best wishes

it sounds the same as someone selling on ebay, as long as you declare it and your not earning loads doing it then they can sometimes allow you to do it.
if they class it as permitted work youd need to be able to say that youd earn no more than 88.50 a week and only working under 16 hours. they can let you do that for 52 weeks.
or if you earn no more than 20 a week it wouldnt affect your benefit0
