But do you think that ANY electrical product is manufactured to last any more than a 'few years'?

At these prices if there obsolete in 3 years then it's cost £10 a year, sounds good to me!

Saying that these will be obsolete in a few years is the same as my friend who hasnt bought a PC for 5 years because 'they keep updating them and as soon as you buy them they are out of date!'

Dunno if that's the same as TFT, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will enlighten us.

IT won't be long until we have proper TV on our phones by which time these devices will be even more obselete and they'll be giving them away. :)

Look at the price maybe this isn't so far off. :P

I was just going to say actually don't bother buying one of these if its for the car, you will get alot of "ssshhhh"ing at the best of times and the picture quality not very good at all to be honest when it is on the move.

If you can keep it still you can usually get a watchable picture though. Even on the video on the maplin website the guy holding it is struggling to keep it in a good enough position to get a decent picture.

have to agree with #7 all these tvs are going to be obsolete in a few years , i still find it incredible that manufacture's are still selling them , just look through the argos cat and very few are digital , going to be a hell of a rush on new sets soon . andy

They will NOT - I repeat NOT be obsolete after 2008 or whenever.

You will still be able to play your videos thru them.:)

What I don't understand is this.

Many years ago portable hand held TVs were around and no-body wanted them. Remember Casio?

What is it that has changed?

Personally, I think that we have all been educated to becoming 'Technology Mad'. and will part with our sovs without paying much thought to the eventual lack of use.

Perhaps TV has become more addictive? (Martin isn't on ALL of the time, y'know).

When do most of us need to listen to our music collections? On the tube perhaps or while queueing up for a ride at Alton Towers maybe, but when we are out shopping, walking Etc?

If ever there was a blow to the art of conversation I think it fades into insignificance against modern trends.

What's so funny about 3-5 years being called a few???:confused:

Dictionary def of a few is 'Not many'
The Government intends to switch over to Digital Television between 2008 and 2012. It will be a phased process, perhaps over four years, and switchover will happen region by region

I concur that to be a few years time.

Perhaps all of this new technology has already started to have it's effects. :snow_laug
