Use Visa Electron option instead of Visa Debit to avoid extra charges online

Just a quick tip to avoid extra charges when using debit cards online.
I booked some flights this week and was surprised to find that they wanted to charge me a couple of quid for using my Visa debit card... I thought this only happened with credit cards. The only option in the list which didn't charge me extra was Visa Electron so I used that and hey presto, it worked fine and the amount was taken as normal from my bank account.
So just to recap, if you're going to be charged extra for using a Visa Debit Card, use Visa Electron instead... it works exactly the same... without the extra charge!

Ryanair does not charge for Visa Electron cards either. Well worth paying by Electron because Ryanair's charges for Debit and Credit cards can run into £100s if you are booking for several people on multiple flights.0 -
I wonder if anyone stuck in Canada with Zoom having folded would agree that bookings with Electron cards are the bargain they seemed at the time...0
