Could be some sort of virus in the attachment, or maybe just some spam. Did the email give details of your credit card. e.g card or account number?

  • no it never gave any details of credit card.
  • ps only number quoted was reference number for ticket

What is the file type of the attachment? If you haven't opened the attachment, I would advise not doing so. Have you tried displaying the full email headers to determine the IP address from which it was sent?

Yes, I had something similar. When I looked at the attachment (did NOT open it) it said.zip so is likely to be a virus.

Obviously the message is designed to worry you and make you click on the attachment. Files that end in .zip are large, compressed files. Because they are compressed they can dodge virus detection software and so if you click and open them they could infect your computer. For this reason, many operating systems make it difficult for you to open .zip files. It seems that this safety feature has protected the OP, but I do suggest that you scan your computer with the best anti-virus software that you can get. If necessary seek advice on the Techie forum.
