Raffles - A Word Of Warning

I'm a committee member with the PTA at my son's primary school, and thought i'd let you know a little piece of information holding a raffle.
You can buy cloakroom tickets and use them as raffle tickets, but you can only sell these at your event. You can't sell them in advance.
If you wish to sell raffle tickets in advance, you must have proper printed ones. It's something to do with the Lotteries Act.
Sorry for being so vague, but i just wanted to warn you. I know that people who organise raffles are doing it to help, but i'd hate for anyone to get into trouble.

Council for Voluntary Services. Usually, perhaps always(?), a registered charity set up by local organisations/Council as an umbrella and network organisation to the voluntary sector in the area/region.poodlehorse wrote: »what is a CVS?
Local charities, voluntary and community groups, self-help groups and statutory organisations can access the services as well as members of the public. May also manage projects in their local area.si talia jungere possis sit tibi scire satis 0 -
In order to sell raffle tickets in advance you also need to be registered with your local council and hold a gaming licence which is valid for 1 year usually 1st Jan to 31st Dec.
Our PTA do usually make at least triple by selling tickets in advance but you do need to do everything at least 3 months earlier than normal as tickets can take 3 weeks to get printed and council gaming licence 2+ weeks.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
There are specific requirements for what must be printed on the raffle tickets too.
A useful guide here from the Brighton Resource Centre. That site has loads of helpful information for fundraisers (sorry, I might have posted it before).Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
